Design in Our Lives

This field trip was very interesting. My class and i seen many different design exhibits. many designs where objects that are useful to us and there were some that were useless in my eyes. four designs that i found eye catching were Mine Kafon Wind-powered deminer ,Dwarf Fortress, the Very round Chair and the Mendori Lamp.
This is a picture of the mine kafon wind-powered deminer.  i would consider this as high functionally design. Mine kafon moves with the power of wind and is heavy enough to detonate each landmine. Each is able to destroy two to three landmines in one journey and also is built with cheap materials. He was very clever with building this object, but i wonder if this invention is efficient enough. I must say that it is most defiantly a world changing creation and can be very beneficial for us.

This is a picture of Dwarf fortress.  i would consider this as a high funtionally design. This is a game by a developer from Tarn Adams. It is a very complicated and mind challenging game. The concept of the game is to generate a world of a legendary universe. Your supposed have to get other dwarfs to build a kingdom so they can be safe from dangerous animals. I think that this game was a very incredible design because it influenced other designers to create even better more graphical types of games. it also help the brain to think and keep it focused.

This is called a very round chair. I would consider this as a low functionality design. I like about this chair  is that it looks like it is made with very cheap materials. I dislike that it is very low to the ground and it seems like it might have a weight limit. Personally I think I would just use this chair for display and not for personal use. The way it is designed also looks like it might be uncomfortable to sit in for a long period of time.

The is called a IN-El Mendori Lamp. I would consider this as a low functionality design. This lamp was made of recycled-pet fabric which is a very strong material.  I cannot see how this lamp is useful. It does not even seem like it can be used for its purpose. I think that the best place for this design is for a art gallery or an ornament for a special occasion.
